Kuta is the new hotspot in Lombok, and with its rising popularity comes an abundance of great places to hang out and enjoy a great meal or drink. Here are our personal top 6 restaurants and bars in Kuta that shouldn’t be missed!

1. Ashtari Restaurant (road to Selong Belanak)

Perched atop a hill west of Kuta, Ashtari offers a breathtaking panoramic view of Kuta and the surrounding beaches! We especially loved riding our scooter up here in the morning to enjoy their fabulous breakfast special and chill out on the huge terrace overlooking Kuta Bay. Only 60,000 IDR for a fresh fruit juice, a tasty main dish AND a delicious coffee, now that’s a deal we couldn’t resist! They also have a yoga platform offering the same stunning view. To get to Ashtari just follow the winding road from Kuta to Selong Belanak for about 2 km.

2. El Bazar Cafe & Restaurant (Jalan Raya Kuta)

Our personal favourite in Kuta! Offering a great selection of Mediterranean style dishes served in a hip and modern interior. We just couldn’t get enough of the incredibly tasty mezze platter but, best of all, the grilled shrimps and couscous! Finger lickin’ good! The super friendly service and clean kitchen made our experience all the more enjoyable :)

3. Milk Espresso & Spa (Jalan Raya Kuta)

Milk Espresso & Spa is a modern place with a great selection of light lunch meals and fantastic coffees! We especially loved the curry and smoothies. At night it really comes alive thanks to the live music (on Wednesday and Friday) on the awesome front terrace. There’s also a little clothing shop attached and a spa to relax even more…

4. Laut Biru Restaurant and Bar (Selong Belanak Beach)

A bit posh, but very well worth a visit if you want a taste of Lombok’s best cheesecake! Set right on Selong Belanak Beach with stunning views over the turquoise ocean and rolling hills in the distance, this is a perfect place for an afternoon treat. Be prepared to pay good money for it though :) It’s a 30 minute scooter ride away from Kuta.

5. Rasta Bar (Jalan Pariwisata Pantai Kuta, right off Kuta Beach)

This is the place to be for a great night out with live reggae music. A ramshackle place but it’s a lot of fun on Saturday nights when the dance floor fills up with foreigners and friendly locals!

6. Seger Beach Bar (Turnoff after Kuta Beach)

If you’re looking for excellent surf and fresh coconuts, this is the place to be! Nothing beats drinking from a freshly cut coconut on a paradise beach like this one :) !
